Cancún, Quintana Roo. – Un turista extranjero de origen canadiense denunció a través de sus redes sociales un presunto intento de extorsión por parte de un taxista en el aeropuerto internacional de Cancún, quien intentó cobrarle mil dólares por trasladarlo de la terminal 4 a la terminal 3.

El incidente quedó comprobado en un video que se volvió viral en TikTok, donde el joven identificado como Xavier Cormier expuso la situación con el conductor del taxi. En las imágenes, se puede ver cómo el taxista insiste en el cobro excesivo mientras el turista se niega rotundamente, exigiendo la presencia de las autoridades.

«Nunca volveré a México, esto es una locura, cobrarme más de mil dólares de una terminal a otra y casi romper mi pierna o perder mi equipaje al intentar llamar a seguridad».

La reacción del turista no se hizo esperar, ya que consideró este cobro como un abuso y un intento de aprovecharse de su condición de extranjero. Ante la negativa del turista y la cercanía de las autoridades del aeropuerto, el taxista intentó desentenderse de la situación, lo que provocó aún más la indignación del joven.

I was traveling to the airport going back to Montreal Canada at 2am Wednesday night / Thursday Morning the 18th of April 2024 when I got set up by the taxi company from the airport and the security at Terminal 3. They told me I could not stay there and need to pay another taxi ( from the airport! ) to go to Terminal 4 for 5$ which I did. I was alone with the 2 security and the only taxi available when they start pressuring me to pay via Credit card. I did not want to but I had no other choice and could walk between terminal they told me. After paying with my card and getting back in the Taxi for only 2 minute I Realized the payment that went on my card was over 1000$ . I was still in the car and the situation escalated at the Terminal 4 where I managed to get the attention of the touriste and traveler waiting for they flights. When the taxi saw the security he tried to escape with me and my luggage in the car but I manage to jump in the front of the car and shift the transmission on Park which almost result in a car accident. The airport security arrived just in time before situation got even more crazy. I filled a report number against the driver and the taxi airport , I believe some of the cops and security agent over there where also in the scam because they wanted me to go the police station to press charge against the driver but to only get rid of my story and all the proof I have against the scam system at the airport including Security and the Airport Taxi Company. I believe if I would stop the car in time something even worst was waiting for me. Are these scammers still working at the Cancun Airport?! «Este tipo acaba de intentar robar mil dólares y luego huye del coche. Casi me rompo la pierna en el aeropuerto. Esto es absolutamente una locura», reclamó Xavier Cormier en uno de los videos viralizados.

El turista logró grabar la placa del vehículo y aseguró que denunciará el hecho ante la embajada de Canadá en México. Además, hizo hincapié en que este caso no es aislado, ya que existen múltiples denuncias de turistas extranjeros que han sido víctimas de abusos por parte de taxistas en Cancún.

“En Cancún están los peores muertos de hambre, lástima de que el destino turístico es muy bonito pero está gente mierd* lo arruina y de paso nos quema a todos” o “Pues gracias a Dios que no llegó la policía, sino le quitan cinco mil”.

Esta situación reabre el debate sobre la regulación de los servicios de transporte en destinos turísticos como Cancún, donde los abusos de algunos taxistas han afectado la experiencia de miles de visitantes. Se espera que las autoridades competentes tomen cartas en el asunto y garanticen la seguridad y transparencia en este tipo de servicios.
